Healthy Living Vital As Malaysia Moves Towards Ageing Nation Status – Wan Azizah

Kuala lumpur: Malaysians must embrace healthier lifestyles to ensure they remain independent as Malaysia moves towards becoming an ageing nation, said Bandar Tun Razak Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail. She emphasized the importance of greater awareness on healthy living in light of Malaysians' increasing life expectancy.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Wan Azizah, who is also the Prime Minister's wife, highlighted the need for independence and health in older age while officiating the Chung De Cheras Family Fun Run 2026 at Taman Tasik Permaisuri today. She noted that as people live longer, it is crucial to maintain health and independence, especially since children may be preoccupied with their own careers and families.

Also present at the event were the Prime Minister's political secretary Datuk Azman Abidin and Bandar Tun Razak District Information Officer representative Syaiful Harif Adnan. Wan Azizah also urged the urban community to continue fostering harmony, care for one another's welfare, and ensure that the country's prosperity benefits everyone fairly.

The programme included a digital safety advocacy session conducted by the district Information Department (JaPen) to increase awareness about online fraud prevention. Syaiful Harif mentioned that the authorities have taken action against numerous social media posts related to fraudulent activities.

'The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has taken down 345,000 online posts involving scam-related activities,' he said. This includes online scams involving job offers, gambling, unhealthy activities, and cyberbullying content involving children.

Organized by the Chung De Cheras Confucian Society, the programme featured various family-oriented activities such as a Zumba session, free health screenings by Pantai Cheras Hospital, and the distribution of safety campaign leaflets by Komuniti Madani Zon 2.
