Health Minister Dzulkefly Confirms WBB Shift System Still Under Consideration

Putrajaya: Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad today emphasized that the proposed ‘Waktu Bekerja Berlainan’ (WBB) shift system, intended for healthcare workers, remains in the proposal phase. This initiative aims to enhance both services and the welfare of Ministry of Health (MOH) staff.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dzulkefly clarified that the proposal has not yet reached his level nor the Public Service Department (PSD). He acknowledged that the information might have been leaked intentionally or unintentionally. His remarks were in response to the Hartal Doktor Kontrak (HDK) movement’s demand for the MOH to immediately withdraw the WBB shift system plan, which has stirred significant unrest within the medical community due to a lack of prior consultation with key stakeholders.

Dzulkefly acknowledged the concerns surrounding the proposal and assured that any plan for implementation would undergo a comprehensive evaluation process. This process would include consultations with hospitals, specialist doctors, and relevant department heads. He made these comments during an event distributing eyeglasses to Year 1 pupils from B40 and M40 categories at SK Putrajaya Presint 9. The event was also attended by Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek.
