Harumanis: Perlis Developing E-Commerce Portal, Grade Tracking System

Kuala lumpur: The Perlis government is developing an international-standard e-commerce portal and special-grade tracking system to enable farmers to market Harumanis mangoes, the state's iconic premium product, directly to global buyers through a smart platform. State Youth and Sports, Communications and Digital, Transport, Science, Technology and Innovation Committee chairman Wan Zikri Afthar Ishak said the initiative is also expected to help address the issue of online fraud involving the sale of the fruit.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Wan Zikri Afthar highlighted complaints on social media from individuals who purchased Harumanis online only to receive fake fruit, with some even deceived by roadside sellers. He emphasized that with facilities and business spaces such as these, there can be better support for Harumanis growers and a reduction in online fraud involving the sale of Harumanis.

Wan Zikri Afthar further mentioned that his committee submitted an official application to the Malaysian Innovation Foundation (YIM) on April 20 to procure 15 units of the AI-based Smart Agriculture innovation device, HabaQQQ NPK. These devices are intended to be strategically placed in each of Perlis' 15 state constituencies as a pilot project, enabling farmers to monitor soil nutrient content in real-time and optimize Harumanis yields.
