Kuala Lampur:Halal Development Corporation Bhd has announced the appointment of Hanisofian Alias as its new chief executive officer, effective October 1, 2026, following his tenure as interim CEO since January.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Hanisofian previously served as HDC's chief industry development officer. In this role, he was responsible for industry governance, market development, sector competitiveness, knowledge management, and international cooperation.
With a background in halal industry development and private-sector management, Hanisofian has been with HDC since 2008. His contributions have been pivotal in developing Malaysia's halal ecosystem and fostering the organization's industry and international cooperation initiatives.
Before joining HDC, Hanisofian spent 13 years at a multinational company, where he gained experience in new product development, manufacturing operations, supplier quality management, and innovative project management. His work included initiatives focused on quality, productivity, and cost improvement.
Hanisofian holds an MBA from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Electronics from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom.
His appointment as CEO aims to ensure continuity in HDC's efforts to bolster Malaysia's halal ecosystem and support the Halal Industry Master Plan 2030. This plan emphasizes enhancing industry competitiveness, particularly for Small and Medium Enterprises, and improving market access, investment, and international cooperation.
HDC reiterated its commitment to strengthening its role under the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) in developing an integrated and competitive halal ecosystem, supporting Malaysian halal industry players in expanding into both domestic and international markets.
