Hamidin Absent from FAM Presidential Race as Ab Ghani and Shahril Vie for Leadership

Kuala lumpur: Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) honorary president Tan Sri Hamidin Mohd Amin is not listed as a candidate for the president post in the governing body's Executive Committee Election for the remainder of the 2025-2029 term scheduled to take place on September 17.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the top FAM position is witnessing a straight fight between Football League of Malaysia (MFL) president Datuk Ab Ghani Hassan and Selangor Football Association (FAS) deputy president Datuk Seri Shahril Mokhtar. The absence of Hamidin's name, who was appointed as FAM honorary president at the FAM Annual Congress in June last year, ended speculation about the possibility of him contesting the presidency again.

The list of candidates announced by FAM today shows the position of vice president 1 is being contested by Datuk Seri Rosmadi Ismail, Mohd Firdaus Mohamed, and Syed Yazid Syed Omar. For the position of vice president 3, Datuk Saaran Nadarajah will be opposed by Afizal Abu Othman.

A total of seven candidates are competing for three positions of Executive Committee Member in the state football association (FA) category, while five candidates are vying for two positions in the club (FC) category. FAM selection committee chairman Prof Datuk Dr Abdullah Mohamad Said stated that all nominations have gone through a review and verification process in accordance with the FAM Statute as well as the set rules and selection procedures.

The following is the list of candidates for the FAM Executive Committee Election for the remaining term 2025-2029.
