Guardian Malaysia Supports Increased Tax Relief for Healthcare in Budget 2027

Rabat:Guardian Malaysia has expressed approval for the healthcare affordability measures included in Budget 2027, particularly the increase in individual tax relief from RM9,000 to RM12,000, marking the first adjustment since 2010.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Priscilla Wu, Managing Director of Guardian Malaysia, emphasized that these measures, along with tax cuts potentially returning up to RM1,600 to households, acknowledge the importance of healthcare affordability in discussions about the cost of living.

Wu stated that when household budgets are constrained, families might postpone addressing minor health issues to focus on immediate needs. She highlighted that for many Malaysian families, health spending starts at home with everyday health essentials, responsible self-care, and illness prevention. She noted that the expanded tax relief to include post-natal care services and total parental care expenses would make family health investments more affordable.

Wu also remarked that Guardian, serving as a trusted wellness advisor in Malaysia, believes that improving access to affordable everyday healthcare contributes to healthier families and aligns with government efforts to develop a sustainable healthcare system.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced these changes, including the increase in individual tax relief and the expansion of coverage for post-natal and parental care expenses, during the presentation of Budget 2027 in the Dewan Rakyat.
