Guardian malaysia: Guardian Malaysia has secured a spot in the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) for the "Largest Membership Registrations in a Rewards Programme in a Year," after its app-based loyalty programme, MYguardian Rewards, registered 6.2 million unique members within its first year.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the growth, recorded up to March 2026, reflects a rise that has outperformed industry standards. By the end of July, membership numbers had surged past 7.5 million, prompting Guardian to dedicate the entire month of August to celebrating this achievement with its members.
The record certification ceremony took place at Guardian's newly refurbished flagship store at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), which recently reopened as the brand's first-ever flagship outlet.
Guardian Malaysia and Brunei managing director Priscilla Wu said the record is a testament to customer trust and the appeal of the personalised experiences offered through the MYguardian Rewards programme, an offering she described as truly one of a kind.
"We are No. 1* and our rewards programme is big, but more importantly, we have the largest sign-up of members in a year or, dare I say, the fastest growing," she said in a statement today.
MYguardian Rewards is Guardian Malaysia's all-in-one rewards platform that has reshaped how Malaysians shop, save and stay well. Its one-app experience delivers personalised, instant points earning and rebates, powered by a robust and sophisticated customer intelligence engine.
The platform's detailed shopper profiling enables tailored promotions, exclusive partner campaigns and experiential members-only events.
With more than 80 MYguardian Partners across food and beverage, fashion, beauty, lifestyle, and other categories, MYguardian Rewards offers a rich ecosystem that gives members more ways to earn and enjoy their MYpoints.
Priscilla said the choice of Guardian KLCC as the venue was fitting as it originally opened in 1998 as the retailer's first flagship store.
Now, after a full refurbishment, the 4,714-square-foot store has reopened with experiential elements, warm colour tones, bold signs that make it easy to navigate, an enhanced Guardian Picks section, and the debut of the Embrace Midlife Wellness bay.
She highlighted that this is the first Guardian store in the Klang Valley equipped with self-checkout counters. Since its relaunch in March 2025, it is home to nearly 200,000 MYguardian Rewards members, cementing its position as one of the chain's most frequented locations.
"Just as its 1998 opening was a milestone, the recognition today marks another in Guardian's journey towards celebrating its Diamond Jubilee next year. This milestone belongs to our team members, suppliers, brand partners and most importantly, our customers," she added.
To thank its customers and loyal members, Guardian is celebrating with a month-long lineup of promotions throughout August. These include the MY Beautiful Malaysia campaign, which offers up to 50 per cent off across 7,300 products store-wide.
MYguardian Rewards members also earn 5x points on their purchases. Additionally, since Aug 6, members spending RM200 or more in a single receipt will receive a free portable USB heated flask with a warmer bag, available in three designs.
There is also an exclusive Guardian x FIZIWOO batik-inspired tote bag collection, available in two designs. Non-members can purchase it at RM29.90, while members can get it for RM19.90 or redeem it using 2,800 MYpoints.
MYguardian Rewards members at the Guardian KLCC store can also snap up a selection of full-sized health, wellness and beauty products for just RM1 each, for a limited time from Aug 27 to 31, and while stocks last.
Priscilla added that the MBOR recognition reinforces Guardian's dedication to offering its members genuine value, rewarding experiences and personalised touches.
"We'll continue innovating and enhancing the rewards ecosystem so that MYguardian Rewards will remain the favourite platform for Malaysians nationwide," concluded Priscilla.
Meanwhile, MBOR chief operating officer Jwan Heah Yeow Hooi said the organisation is pleased to recognise the achievement after verifying the data submitted by Guardian Malaysia.
"Having verified the data submitted to us, we are delighted to announce that MYguardian Rewards' success in signing up over six million unique members in a single year has set a new record in Malaysia.
"This success testifies to both the widespread reach of the rewards programme as well as its popularity amongst Malaysians," he said.
