Guangzhou: China's Guangdong province is looking to deepen economic cooperation with Southeast Asian countries, including Malaysia, through closer industrial integration, expanded market channels, and increased two-way investments. Director General of the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Guangdong Province, Zeng Jinze, emphasized the significant role Southeast Asia plays as Guangdong's largest trading partner, with trade between the two regions reaching a record high of over 1.3 trillion yuan last year.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Zeng highlighted that the cooperation between Guangdong and Southeast Asia has evolved beyond traditional trade, now encompassing industrial collaboration, technological innovation, and supply chain integration. He emphasized that future cooperation should be based on complementarity and mutual benefit, with Guangdong's strengths in manufacturing technology and innovation aligning with Southeast Asia's abundant resources and vast market.
Zeng expressed Guangdong's readiness to share technologies such as smart logistics, industrial robotics, and AI-driven manufacturing solutions to support industrial upgrades in Southeast Asia. He noted that high-quality agricultural products and raw materials from Southeast Asia could enter the Chinese market through Guangdong, strengthening regional industrial and supply chain integration.
Furthermore, Zeng mentioned that the province aims to expand cooperation in distribution and market access by connecting Guangdong enterprises with Southeast Asian e-commerce platforms, wholesalers, retailers, and manufacturers. Guangdong also invites companies from Southeast Asia, including Malaysia, to invest and develop businesses in the province, offering access to innovation and market resources.
He underlined Guangdong's commitment to enhancing product competitiveness through technological innovation, quality improvement, and global brand development. The province is transitioning from being known as the 'world's factory' to becoming a global marketplace, reflecting its efforts to promote high-quality development in manufacturing and China's commitment to greater economic openness.
