Kuala lumpur: About 70 residents from Felda Chiku 1 and 2, Gua Musang have been evacuated to relief centres tonight due to floods following heavy rain since this afternoon.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kelantan Civil Defence Force (CDF) director Mohd Adzhar Mujab stated that they received a report about flooding in the settlements at about 6 pm and ordered the immediate evacuation as a safety measure but mentioned that the situation was not concerning. He advised residents not to linger or play in at-risk areas and expressed hope that evacuees could return home if conditions improve by tomorrow.
Residents reported that over 50 houses in the area have been flooded as night fell. Razali Daud, a 73-year-old resident, shared that his kitchen was flooded after an hour and a half of heavy downpour. He noted that water started flooding his kitchen at about 6.30 pm and continued to rise as the rain persisted, a situation he had not experienced before, even during prolonged heavy rains.
Another resident, Shamsaziela Mohd Ghazali, 35, who is currently in a relief centre, recounted her experience of being evacuated with 30 family members to Dewan Chiku 2 at about 8.30 pm. She described how water at the front of their house had reached waist level before they evacuated, allowing them only to save important documents.
