Kota kinabalu: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) plans to commit to improving unions and focusing on implementation of duties to ensure Sabah state revenue increases if it is given the mandate in the 17th Sabah state election.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, GRS deputy secretary-general Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali stated that the initiative aims to ensure the people of Sabah receive more benefits, including increased educational funds such as state government scholarships. He highlighted that in 2019, during Parti Warisan Sabah’s rule, educational funds were only RM50 million. The GRS government has managed to increase this allocation to RM136 million this year, more than doubling the previous amount.
Despite this progress, Armizan emphasized that more children are in need, and GRS targets to ensure Sabah’s income exceeds RM10 billion by 2030. He stated the importance of maintaining good relations between the federal and Sabah government, rejecting anti-Peninsular sentiments as detrimental to the public. He underscored the Federation’s role as part of Sabah, emphasizing Malaysian unity.
Armizan also encouraged voters in Tanjung Batu to support GRS candidate Dr. Andi Mohd Shamsureezal Mohd Sainal, a young doctor and hospital director. He remarked that GRS is open and transparent in involving all societal segments, offering roles that match their expertise in the frontlines as candidates and assemblymen.
Sabah voters are scheduled to cast their ballots on November 29, with early voting on November 25. The Tanjung Batu constituency will see candidates such as Ayuf Abdul Rahman from Warisan, Ahmad Dullah from PN-PAS, Samasuddin Yusop from BN-UMNO, Zanudin Mingo from PIS, and Dr. Andi Md Shamsureezal Mohd Sainal from GRS-Gagasan Rakyat competing for election.
