Coimbatore:Gradiant is set to broaden its presence in India by securing five design-build contracts and appointing a new managing director. This expansion includes plans to boost its workforce in the country by over 40% within the year.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, The newly acquired contracts involve projects in semiconductor, printed circuit board (PCB), and solar manufacturing sectors. Gradiant will provide solutions such as ultrapure water, wastewater treatment, and zero liquid discharge (ZLD) systems as part of these contracts.
Prakash Govindan, Gradiant's Chief Executive Officer, emphasized India's growing importance in building the AI supply chain, which includes components like chips, circuit boards, and solar cells. He noted that a repeat contract from a global chipmaker for its latest fab expansion underscores Gradiant's expertise, positioning the company as a key water partner for India's manufacturing sector.
The company highlighted its selection by customers for its water recovery capabilities, ZLD performance, and efficient execution. Hari Prasad has been appointed as Managing Director, India, to spearhead Gradiant's growth in the semiconductor, data center, and energy sectors. Prasad brings nearly 30 years of experience in water technology, having held senior roles in India, the Middle East, and Africa.
To facilitate this expansion, Gradiant aims to bolster its India workforce, focusing on engineering, project execution, operations, and digital roles, including positions at its Gradiant Engineering Center in Coimbatore, which supports projects globally.
Prasad stated that orders in India are expected to more than double, with revenue projected to triple. He underscored the necessity of water for operating fabs and solar plants, noting the stringent ZLD regulations in place.
Gradiant's expansion aligns with India's accelerated focus on semiconductor, electronics, and clean energy manufacturing, driving demand for reliable water supplies and ZLD solutions as essential considerations alongside power and land.
