Grab malaysia: Grab Malaysia has announced a partnership with GiatMARA to better support and empower its driver community through upskilling initiatives, access to higher-value services and a transition towards electric vehicles (EV).
According to BERNAMA News Agency, under the collaboration, Grab will expand access to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) focused on job-ready skills such as vehicle care and safety, logistics operations, basic electrical and EV knowledge, digital and customer service, as well as small-business and financial management.
Grab Malaysia in a statement said, the programme combines flexible online learning via GrabAcademy with practical sessions at GiatMARA centres, allowing driver- and delivery-partners to learn at their own pace while gaining real-world experience.
Grab Malaysia’s Director of Country Operations and Mobility Rashid Shukor said, the collaboration reflects the company’s commitment to long-term sustainability and the welfare of its driver- and delivery-partners. ‘Our collaboration with GiatMARA through GrabAcademy empowers our driver- and delivery-partners with upskilling and reskilling courses so they can thrive within and beyond Grab. It also supports the government’s ongoing efforts to uplift this segment,’ he said.
Meanwhile, he said Grab is opening more avenues for driver-partners to enhance their earning opportunities after previously established partnerships with automotive industry players BYD Sime Motors and CARSOME. The statement said Grab’s tie-up with BYD Sime Motors since June, will further accelerate EV adoption in Malaysia, beginning with an initial deployment of 10 BYD M6 all-electric MPVs available for booking at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
Collaboration with CARSOME provides driver-partners access to affordable upgrades and trade-ins, with discounts of up to RM3,000 on purchases and/or trade-ins via the CARSOME platform. Through these collaborations, Grab aims to strengthen earning opportunities, career development and long-term sustainability for its driver and delivery community across Malaysia.
