Kuching: Members of the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) component parties have been urged to strengthen cooperation ahead of the upcoming State Election to ensure the coalition’s strength remains intact. Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) Senior Vice-President Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh emphasized that internal opposition could provide an advantage to political adversaries.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Wong highlighted the potential consequences of internal discord at the NN.53 Bawang Assan Pre-Gawai Night 2025 event organized by the Bawang Assan PDP. He warned that any attempt by party components to oppose one another could lead to division within GPS, which would ultimately benefit the opposition.
Wong, who also serves as the Bawang Assan Assemblyman, underscored the significance of the Gawai Dayak celebration. He described it as a reflection of the Dayak community’s identity, which is rich in culture, resilient, and proud of their heritage. The assemblyman emphasized that for PDP, the Gawai celebration serves as a reminder of the party’s commitment to protecting the rights of the Dayak community and promoting balanced development in rural Sarawak.
He further stressed the importance of empowering citizens through education, infrastructure, and economic opportunities, urging everyone not to forget the need to prepare the next generation for the future.
