Kuching: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) will continue to focus on helping and serving the people regardless of when the next Sarawak state election is held, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof. Fadillah, who is also the GPS chief whip, emphasized that the coalition does not limit its efforts to election periods but is committed to serving the people at all times.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fadillah stated, 'We view elections as a means of returning power to the people to assess our performance and the work we have carried out.' He made these remarks to reporters after attending a Chinese New Year contribution presentation ceremony for senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs).
He further addressed a recent statement by GPS secretary-general Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, who indicated that Sarawak is expected to hold its state election this year. Fadillah clarified that the Sarawak state election could be held at any time, including this year, as the term of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly will end in February 2027.
