Govt’s Guidance Helps Kuhot ‘Apam Balik’ Expand From Street Vendor to 18 Outlets.

KUALA LUMPUR: After almost 28 years, Kuhot’s brand of ‘apam balik’ or pancake is now thriving with 18 outlets via business partners, thanks to the government’s guidance.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, company director Abdul Aziz Ahmad shared Kuhot’s journey, stating that the business, started by his father Ahmad Ismail in the Ipoh night market in the early 1990s, has expanded since 2017. This expansion was marked by the introduction of a variety of ‘apam balik’ menus that began to be sold at kiosks.

The brand is also working on entering the shopping centre market, as mentioned by Abdul Aziz at the entrepreneurs’ exhibition hall at the MADANI Government’s Two-Year Programme (2TM) held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center.

“In addition, we will get a franchise licence at the end of 2024 with guidance from Perbadanan Nasional Bhd under the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives,” Abdul Aziz stated.

A total of 86 entrepreneurs are involved in the 2TM Programme, which started yesterday and w
ill end tomorrow at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center.
