Govt Vows Justice in Case of Private Muhammad Amirul’s Death

Gemas: The government will not compromise if there are criminal elements in the death of army personnel, Private Muhammad Amirul Raziq Rosafindi, who is believed to have been beaten by a corporal last month. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi stated that the government is taking the matter seriously, with a commitment to ensuring justice is served and preventing such incidents in the future.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister Zahid emphasized that disciplinary action cannot be arbitrary, especially when physical abuse is involved. He stressed that adherence to standard operating procedures is crucial and warned against using methods outside existing guidelines. These comments were made to reporters after attending the Jelebu parliamentary constituency Aidilfitri Open House.

The tragic incident involving Muhammad Amirul, 24, left him in a coma, receiving intensive care at Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital in Temerloh. The injuries resulted from a beating incident at the 25th Battalion Camp of the Royal Malay Regiment in Bentong on March 30. A 37-year-old Junior Non-Commissioned Officer is accused of using force due to dissatisfaction with duty assignments.

In GEMAS, the victim's close friend, Muhammad Afham Hafidz Adzhar, 24, described Amirul as a friendly and cheerful individual. The news of his friend's situation came as a shock to Afham and others who had known Amirul since they were 16. Afham expressed regret for not being able to visit Amirul in the hospital, recalling their last contact before Hari Raya, when Amirul mentioned feeling unwell.

Amirul had a deep interest in the military and aspired to join the commando force, although he was not successful. His remains will be laid to rest early Sunday morning at the Felda Sungai Kelamah Cemetery in Gemas.
