The government will present the focus and direction of the national economy for 2026 at the upcoming Malaysia Economic Forum, stated Minister of Economy Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir. Akmal mentioned that preparations for the forum are scheduled to commence in early February.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Akmal emphasized the importance of setting priorities in determining the economic direction for the initial weeks of 2026. This strategy is crucial, especially in the context of the current global economic climate, which is affected by the United States' tariff war and ongoing geopolitical tensions that pose a risk to global economic growth.

Akmal shared that the Ministry of Economy has prepared 25 briefings to facilitate comprehensive discussions on policy and the implementation of the country's economic direction. These briefings will be followed by in-depth deliberations to ensure the formulation of effective strategies.
