Penang: Government agencies should provide comprehensive infrastructure and facilitation support to Muslim and Bumiputera small and medium enterprises (SMEs), including in Penang, to ensure sustainable economic development. Penang Muslim League president Datuk Haja Najmudeen Kader emphasized the importance of such support, highlighting the challenges faced by these entrepreneurs who require proper infrastructure and continuous guidance to help their businesses grow and remain competitive.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Muslim Economic Development Agenda Convention (APEM), held here today, serves as a platform to align cooperation among government agencies, industry players, and entrepreneurs towards a shared goal of SME development. Haja Najmudeen stated, "Many entrepreneurs aspire to expand their businesses but lack the necessary infrastructure. This is why support from agencies with the capacity and facilities to assist is essential," while speaking to reporters after officiating at the convention.
Haja Najmudeen noted that the involvement of various agencies at the convention would open opportunities for integrated cooperation in developing the Muslim and Bumiputera economy. Agencies invited to participate in the convention included the Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER), TEKUN Nasional, and Perbadanan Nasional Berhad (PERNAS).
Resolutions from the convention, including proposals to strengthen collaborative economic development efforts, will be submitted to Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, he added.
