Government Utilizes AI to Enhance Quran Appreciation Among Youth

Kuala lumpur: The government is set to intensify efforts to promote the appreciation of the Quran among the younger generation through the use of modern technology, including artificial intelligence (AI). This initiative was highlighted by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar, during the closing ceremony of the 65th International Quran Recitation and Memorisation Assembly (MTHQA).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im emphasized the importance of fostering a MADANI generation with a Quranic soul. He assured that religious affairs agencies will continue to lead Quranic development programs. He highlighted Darul Quran, under the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM), as a pioneering centre for professional tahfiz, producing highly skilled huffaz dedicated to the nation and the ummah.

He further mentioned the introduction of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) initiative for tahfiz students. This program aims to develop huffaz who are not only adept at memorizing the Quran but are also equipped with technical, entrepreneurial, and other essential skills.

Mohd Na’im also noted that the theme of the MTHQA, ‘Membangun Ummah MADANI’, reflects the government’s commitment to elevating the dignity of the ummah. He expressed hope that the International Quran Recitation and Memorisation Assembly, which Malaysia first organized on March 9, 1961, will continue to serve as a unifying platform for the ummah.

The 65th MTHQA, which took place from August 2 to 9, featured 71 participants from 49 countries. Winners in the Quran recitation and memorisation categories were awarded RM40,000 in cash from the government, along with jewellery sponsored by the Malaysian Islamic Economic Development Foundation (YaPEIM), in addition to other prizes and certificates.
