Government to Standardise Renovation Application Procedures Nationwide

Kuala lumpur: The government has agreed to standardise application procedures and technical requirements for renovation works involving residential and commercial premises nationwide. The Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) announced that the National Council for Local Government (MNKT) approved the guidelines during its 87th meeting, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, these guidelines aim to clarify the work scope permitted for building owners without compromising structural safety, natural ventilation, and urban planning harmony. The MNKT meeting serves as a platform for developing policies and legislation related to local government matters between the Federal and state governments. Issues discussed will be brought to state governments' attention before being officially implemented at the local authority level nationwide. Present at the meeting were the Minister of Housing and Local Government, Nga Kor Ming, state government executive councillors, relevant Federal ministers, and senior government officers.

The KPKT also reported that the meeting agreed on implementing a community service order for littering offenses as an educational and behavioral correction measure. This initiative aims to enhance urban cleanliness and instill a sense of responsibility among the community towards maintaining public environment cleanliness. Furthermore, the KPKT emphasized the need for stronger enforcement at the local government level to ensure consistent, wise, and effective implementation of policies, regulations, and guidelines.
