Government to Monitor Global Sumud Flotilla 2.0 Mission Progress Closely: Amirudin

Kuala lumpur: The government has committed to closely monitoring the progress of the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2.0 humanitarian mission to ensure the safety of all Malaysian participants operating in high-risk areas. Representing Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari addressed the participants aboard the ship as they embarked on their journey across the Mediterranean Sea.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Amirudin praised the Malaysian delegation's resilience in confronting the challenges associated with the aid mission. He emphasized the government's dedication to overseeing the mission's progress and ensuring the safety of all involved. "We will monitor the situation from time to time, ensuring the smooth progress and safety of all delegates who are with us," Amirudin stated, expressing the Malaysian government's unwavering support for the mission.

Amirudin was accompanied by lawyers from the Centre for Human Rights Research and Advocacy (CENTHRA) and offered words of encouragement to the Malaysian activists. He expressed hopes for a successful and uninterrupted humanitarian voyage that achieves its primary objectives. "Once again, on behalf of Malaysians, I commend all Malaysian delegates for the sacrifices that have been made," he added.

The mission began its journey from the Port of Barcelona to Gaza, with thousands of supporters from various countries gathering to show their support. The mission aims to break Israel's blockade on Gaza and deliver humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people. It involves over 80 vessels and approximately 1,000 participants from around the world, combining efforts at sea with global mobilization on land, including legal advocacy and solidarity campaigns in multiple countries.
