Bukit payong: Efforts to provide entertainment and sports platforms aligned with Islamic principles are being enhanced to ensure the community, especially youth, can engage in wholesome entertainment and meaningful sporting activities, stated Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Dr. Zulkifli Hasan.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr. Zulkifli emphasized the importance of these efforts in attracting the younger generation to programs centered on values and guidance aligned with Islamic teachings. He highlighted the government’s initiatives to create suitable platforms that adhere to syariah principles, offering beneficial forms of entertainment and sports. Notable figures such as Sonny Bill Williams, Khabib Nurmagomedov, and Yusuf Islam have been featured to draw the interest of young people.
Dr. Zulkifli noted that Islam permits arts and entertainment while encouraging sports, all under proper guidelines. The government’s aim is to engage all segments of society, particularly the youth, with appropriate direction.
The government is exploring various entertainment and sports programs consistent with syariah principles. Noteworthy campaigns include the ‘Subuh Macam Jumaat’ with Sonny Bill Williams and engagements with Khabib, which have received positive responses.
Additionally, Dr. Zulkifli mentioned the successful gathering of over 900 participants at the Islamic Arts Festival and the national-level National Da’wah Programme 2025. The festival, which began today, includes events such as oratory, poetry recitation, tilawah, azan rendition, and nasyid, aimed at enriching Islamic arts and showcasing young talent.
The festival’s positive response reflects strong public interest in syariah-based arts platforms, with a focus on revitalizing Islamic arts through sound approaches aligned with religious principles to attract greater youth participation.
