Kuala lumpur: A total of 1,361 foreign-owned projects in the manufacturing sector have been approved under the supervision of the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) and the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), with investments amounting to RM357.1 billion from 2022 to September 2025. These investments are anticipated to create 185,044 job opportunities. According to BERNAMA News Agency, MITI disclosed in a written reply to the Dewan Rakyat, released on the official parliament website, that the majority of these investments have already been actualized. Specifically, 966 projects, corresponding to 71 percent of the total, have been realized with investments worth RM282.2 billion. Furthermore, the ministry highlighted that 356 manufacturing projects, representing 26.2 percent, remain in the planning stage. These projects are currently undergoing the location selection process and discussions with developers and consultants. This information was provided in response to a question from Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin (PN-Lumut) about the proportion of foreign investments announced since 2022 that have been realized and the number of high-income job opportunities created. MITI further elaborated that the projects with approved investments total RM60.1 billion and are projected to create 39,121 job opportunities once fully realized.
