Kuala lumpur: The government has approved 13,343 new unexchanged posts across various service schemes and grades in the Ministry of Health (MOH) to support the operations of 256 new and upgraded healthcare facilities, with an annual financial implication of RM1.25 billion. The Public Service Department (PSD) announced the decision, emphasizing the enhancement of healthcare services throughout the nation.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the PSD stated that out of the total new posts, 7,218 are designated for five primary service schemes. These include 1,197 positions for Medical Officers, 239 for Dental Officers, 339 for Pharmacy Officers, 3,471 for Nurses, and 1,972 for Assistant Medical Officers. The remaining 6,125 positions are allocated to various other service schemes, all aimed at supporting the delivery of higher-quality healthcare services to the public.
"With this approval, PSD has endorsed a total of 66,312 new unexchanged posts for MOH since 2019, thereby strengthening the capacity of the national healthcare system to meet the growing needs of the people," stated the PSD. In addition to healthcare enhancements, the government is implementing the Bumiputera Economic Transformation Plan 2035 (PuTERA35) by reinforcing the Bumiputera Empowerment Unit (UPB) across all ministries, guided by General Circular No. 2 of 2025.
The statement further elaborated that the reinforcement aims to streamline coordination, monitoring, and execution of 132 PuTERA35 initiatives across ministries and agencies by enhancing UPB's functions and governance. This includes rebranding the Bumiputera Agenda Empowerment Unit (UPAB) to UPB and placing its supervision under the Deputy Secretary-General (Policy) or the Deputy Secretary-General heading the ministry's strategic planning and policy.
The PSD highlighted that these strategic measures reflect the government's commitment to strengthening the public sector's capacity as a driver of national development. This involves enhancing the public healthcare system and implementing PuTERA35 more effectively to ensure efficient, inclusive, and high-impact service delivery for the well-being of the people and the prosperity of the nation.
