Government Reinforces Continuous Monitoring of Deviant Teachings: Zulkifli

Kuala lumpur: The government has pledged to maintain ongoing surveillance of questionable or deviant teachings to preserve the sanctity of Islam within the nation. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), Dr. Zulkifli Hassan, affirmed the commitment, noting that the authorities, alongside relevant agencies, are collaborating closely with enforcement bodies to address any teachings that contradict the Quran and Sunnah.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr. Zulkifli emphasized the importance of these monitoring efforts to prevent Muslims from being misled by unsound beliefs, especially during Ramadan, a period when Muslims focus on strengthening their religious practices. He stated that parties are actively engaged in continuous monitoring efforts to safeguard the overall aspects of religious affairs.

Dr. Zulkifli shared these insights during a press conference following the Jom ke Sekolah 2026 programme, which involved visiting KAFA religious schools and a luncheon at Dewan Semai Bakti, Felda Sungai Behrang. He urged the public to seek guidance from authorities or knowledgeable individuals if they encounter any matters of doubt. Community involvement is also critical, as Dr. Zulkifli called upon the public to report any suspicious activities to the authorities.

Earlier, Johor Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairman Mohd Fared Mohd Khalid disclosed that eight deviant movements had been detected and were under close monitoring by the Johor State Islamic Religious Department (JAINJ), although they are currently inactive.

In the local community, the Sungai Behrang Felda received contributions exceeding RM115,000 for educational, religious, and welfare initiatives as part of the Jom ke Sekolah 2026 Programme. Dr. Zulkifli highlighted that the contributions included RM20,000 to Sekolah Agama KAFA, RM20,000 to Masjid Ar-Rahmaniah Sungai Behrang, and RM10,000 each to four suraus in the area.

Moreover, through the Yayasan Taqwa MAIWP initiative in collaboration with Felda, 195 students from needy families benefited from back-to-school assistance totaling RM35,685. This contribution supplements the government's early schooling aid to alleviate the financial burden on parents.

In a related development, Dr. Zulkifli announced the launch of the National-level Ihya Ramadan Programme at the Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque in Putrajaya, which encompasses various religious activities and community assistance nationwide. Significant contributions included over RM350,000 from the Muslim World League, benefiting more than 1,000 recipients, and an RM250,000 donation from Nestl© to be distributed across Malaysia, including to over 70 mosques through beverage products. Additionally, Lembaga Tabung Haji has provided RM1.4 million to 14 religious schools nationwide, with each receiving RM100,000.
