Government Prioritizes Upgrading Military and Police Quarters: PM Anwar

Kuala lumpur: The government will maintain its focus on enhancing the conditions of military and police quarters to improve the living standards of security personnel, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced. He highlighted ongoing efforts and past investments aimed at upgrading these accommodations.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Prime Minister emphasized that substantial renovations have already been made, with RM1 billion previously allocated to address severely dilapidated living quarters. This statement was made following a meeting with Home Ministry staff and during the Ihya' Ramadan program.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, Deputy Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Shamsul Anuar Nasarah, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, and Treasury Secretary-General Datuk Johan Mahmood Merican were also in attendance. Saifuddin Nasution advocated for additional funding in the upcoming Budget to further support these initiatives.

Prime Minister Anwar also underscored that the development of the country, including security responsibilities, should be a collective effort rather than the sole duty of specific agencies. He urged individuals to use the Ramadan period for personal and professional growth, contributing to national progress.

He commended the Royal Malaysia Police, Immigration Department, and Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency for their effective performance but cautioned against complacency. "I'm proud of your performance so far, but let us not become complacent. Let's evaluate ourselves... let's not regress," he added.
