Kuala lumpur: The government is prepared to face any eventuality affecting the country's economic position, including potential implications for petrol subsidies following the conflict in the Middle East. Senior Political Advisor to the Prime Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz stated that fluctuations in global oil prices are not unusual, noting that the commodity had previously reached US$100 per barrel. He assured that the Finance Ministry and the Economy Ministry have made preparations to address various possible developments related to the situation.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Tengku Zafrul highlighted that geopolitical tensions in West Asia inevitably affect many countries, including Malaysia, and the government is continuously monitoring developments. He emphasized the importance of maintaining focus on current economic programs, ensuring that economic growth benefits the populace through increased investments and a solid GDP performance.
Tengku Zafrul underscored Malaysia's need to preserve regional relations, including those with Middle Eastern countries, as a neutral nation with an open economic policy. He expressed appreciation to the Prime Minister for his recent appointment as Senior Political Adviser, which allows him to engage in discussions on political and economic issues relevant to the government.
Earlier, Tengku Zafrul participated in the 'Raikan Kasih Ramadan' programme, spending time with orphans and asnaf, and providing them with Hari Raya clothing and contributions to local welfare homes.
