Government Plans Support for MSMEs Amid West Asia Conflict

Kuala lumpur: The government has announced plans to assist micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in addressing challenges stemming from disruptions to goods and services caused by the conflict in West Asia, according to Deputy Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Sim Tze Tzin.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sim stated that the government is currently analyzing the situation and closely monitoring developments. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has indicated that the Malaysian economy will inevitably be affected.

Sim highlighted potential issues such as logistics disruptions and the passage of goods through conflict zones, challenges that extend beyond Malaysia to impact countries globally. The government aims to provide support in instances where logistics or goods are delayed or halted.

In response to a question from Senator Datuk Seri Dr Mujahid Yusof regarding the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry's (MITI) strategy for mitigating problems faced by MSMEs and the potential long-term impact of the conflict, Sim assured that the ministry, along with embassies, will actively assist MSMEs.

Sim emphasized the government's commitment to proactive measures and stated the need for reports from embassies, the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), and the Malaysian Investment Development Authority's (MIDA) attach©s in the region to inform appropriate actions.
