Kuala lumpur: The government will establish a special committee to study the impact of the United States-Iran conflict on the national economy following geopolitical tensions in West Asia. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced this initiative, highlighting the importance of assessing the potential economic repercussions.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Finance Minister II will lead the special committee, alongside the Economy Minister and other relevant ministers, to closely monitor the economic impact and current developments. The committee's objective is to evaluate issues related to the economic impact on a daily basis and provide updates to the government leadership.
During a special live press conference, Prime Minister Anwar emphasized that Malaysia's oil supply remains under control, despite the potential implications of the conflict on the global energy market. He assured that the country's petroleum products are sufficient at least until May 2026.
Anwar also stated that the government is actively monitoring current developments and is committed to protecting the interests of Malaysians. Efforts are underway to ensure the stability of the national economy while supporting peace and diplomatic resolutions to the ongoing conflict.
