Government Enhances Support for MSMEs Through GLC Partnerships

Kuala lumpur: The government, under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), is prioritising efforts to help micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) move up the value chain through strategic partnerships with government-linked companies (GLCs).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Finance Minister II and acting Economy Minister Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan stated that the government would also enhance support through initiatives such as the strategic investment fund, working capital enhancement, project financing, and capacity-building programmes. He emphasized the importance of targeted interventions to assist MSMEs, including logistics systems, certification facilitation like halal certification, and better access to export markets.

Amir Hamzah highlighted the critical role of the private funding sector in enabling entrepreneurs to innovate and scale their businesses. He urged funding institutions to continue developing effective solutions and approaches to risk management that align with rapid changes in business and technology.

Additionally, Amir Hamzah expressed that Malaysia could confidently advance towards becoming an innovation-driven economy by embracing creativity, collaboration, and technology while being guided by strong values and human purpose. He stressed that technology not only expands MSMEs’ market reach and visibility but also enhances their entrepreneurial potential, contributing to a future where progress is inclusive, sustainable, and uniquely Malaysian.
