Government Enforces Strict Regulations on Construction of Places of Worship: PM Anwar

Kuala lumpur: The government will not permit the illegal construction of places of worship, as stated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. He emphasized that local authorities have the power to take necessary actions, including the removal of places of worship built on land without proper legal rights.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar highlighted that Malaysia is governed by the Constitution, and that the establishment of places of worship must adhere strictly to the rule of law. He addressed misconceptions about his stance, clarifying that all places of worship are allowed only if they comply with legal regulations.

Anwar further explained, 'Some say Anwar allows all places of worship. I say all are allowed if they comply with the law. Should we permit temples or other places of worship that do not comply with regulations? No, because we adhere to the rule of law.' He questioned the legality of constructing places of worship on land owned by others, likening it to unlawfully seizing another person's property during his address at the monthly assembly of the National Unity Ministry.
