Kuala lumpur: The government has sanctioned 1,050 final proofs of Quranic texts for printing and public distribution, under the Printing of Quranic Texts Act 1986 (APTQ 1986). Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail highlighted the significance of this initiative, emphasizing its role in maintaining the sanctity of the Quran.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, inspections conducted last year under this law covered 12,048 premises, resulting in the seizure of 56,946 copies of Quranic texts and related materials. The enforcement actions led to 302 investigation papers being filed, with outcomes valued at RM1,983,151.
The Home Ministry is tasked with the crucial responsibility of enforcing APTQ 1986 to regulate the printing, importation, sale, publication, and distribution of Quranic texts. This enforcement is designed to uphold the dignity and sanctity of the Quran in the country.
A related initiative, the Jom Exchange Quran (JEQ) programme, was introduced to encourage the replacement of old, damaged, or uncertified copies of the Quran with those officially approved by the Home Ministry. Since its launch in 2023, 723 JEQ programmes have been conducted, resulting in the replacement of 75,614 Quran copies, aligning with the goal of 'Towards Zero Uncertified Copies of the Quran by KDN'.
This initiative aligns with the Malaysia MADANI aspiration, which underscores the values of knowledge, integrity, and compassion in governance, ensuring policies and actions are guided by values beneficial to the people and the country.
The Home Minister also reflected on the importance of the Nuzul Quran event, marking the first revelation to the Prophet Muhammad SAW in the Hira Cave, which serves as a pivotal moment in human civilisation, emphasizing knowledge, morality, and justice. The command 'Iqra' (read) underscores the foundation of knowledge guided by revelation in building the nation and community.
May the observance of Nuzul Quran reinforce the collective commitment to making the Quran a guiding force in personal and national responsibilities.
