KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today announced that the government has allocated additional funds for post-flood follow-up measures, with initiatives expected to commence in the middle of this month. He emphasized the importance of restoring affected areas as floodwaters begin to recede in some regions, as reported by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who chairs the National Disaster Management Committee.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar highlighted the government’s commitment to repairing essential infrastructure such as schools, relief centres, and toilet cleaning facilities. This announcement was made during a monthly assembly with staff of the Prime Minister’s Department, attended by key government officials including Deputy Prime Ministers Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, as well as Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar.

t states of Kelantan and Terengganu, amounting to RM25 million for each state. These funds are earmarked for repairing roads and drainage systems and raising road levels in affected areas such as Hulu Besut in Terengganu. Anwar praised the coordinated efforts of federal and state governments in preparing for floods, stressing the need for comprehensive post-flood actions across the country.
He noted that while some areas see receding water levels, the situation demands nationwide readiness, as floodwaters flow towards Pahang and Johor. Anwar expressed admiration for the extraordinary efforts of cabinet members, civil servants, and personnel from various agencies, including the Civil Defence Force and health workers, who have been tirelessly working in affected areas.
The prime minister also acknowledged the remarkable contribution of 82,000 personnel from various agencies, NGOs, corporate bodies, and volunteers nationwide. He shared an inspiring example of an individual from Bukit Mertajam, Penang, who coor
dinated food truck deliveries to Kelantan, demonstrating the collective spirit of Malaysians in addressing mutual challenges.
