GOF Seizes RM90,000 Worth of Smuggled Cosmetics in Tumpat

TUMPAT: The General Operations Force (GOF) has seized a consignment of cosmetic products valued at approximately RM92,600 during an operation in Tumpat, highlighting ongoing smuggling challenges in the region.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the GOF Southeast Brigade commander, Datuk Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab Hamid, reported that the discovery was made by the 8th Battalion during Op Taring Wawasan. The operation took place at an illegal base in Pengkalan Kubor at around 11:15 a.m. yesterday.

Members of the patrol team identified several boxes abandoned along the banks of Sungai Golok. Upon investigation, these boxes were found to contain a variety of cosmetic items. The seized products are believed to have been smuggled from Thailand and lacked the necessary documentation for legal distribution in the local market.

Nik Ros Azhan stated that the case is being investigated under Section 7(1)(E) of the Control of Drugs and Cosmetics Regulations 1984. He confirmed that the confiscated goods have been transported to the Pengkalan Kubor Komtak for further examination and action.

This seizure underscores the persistent issues of cross-border smuggling in the area, as local authorities continue to tackle illegal trade activities.
