Tanah merah: The General Operations Force (GOF) 8th Battalion has seized logs and processed timber valued at approximately RM13.7 million during an inspection at a sawmill located in Mukim Batang Merbau, Tanah Merah.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Southeast Brigade Commander Datuk Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab Hamid reported that a Chinese national and two Myanmar workers were arrested at the site for lacking valid travel documents. The seized timber had no revenue stamps from the Forestry Department or the company, indicating it was untaxed and likely sourced from illegal logging activities in forest reserves within the state.
The operation led to the confiscation of 800 logs, 30,000 pieces of processed timber, timber-processing equipment, and heavy machinery. The incident is currently under investigation in accordance with the National Forestry Act 1984 and the Immigration Act 1959/63.
