Pengkalan kubor: The General Operations Force (GOF) Southeast Brigade has intensified security measures and inspections along the Malaysia-Thailand border in response to a recent shooting incident in Sungai Golok, Narathiwat, which resulted in the death of a Malaysian national.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the acting commander of the GOF, ACP Ijid Landu Binju, emphasized that while the GOF has increased its border control efforts, the force consistently maintains a high level of vigilance and does not solely react to isolated events. He stated, “Regardless of any incident that occurs on the Thai side, we on the Malaysian side are always vigilant.”
To address the heightened security concerns, ACP Ijid Landu Binju has directed all officers and personnel stationed along the border to remain on high alert and continue with preventive measures. This directive was communicated during a press conference at the Tactical Company Headquarters (Martek) in Pengkalan Kubor.
As part of the precautionary steps to safeguard border security, roadblock inspections and patrols have been further tightened to ensure effective control and monitoring. The move comes after Bernama reported the fatal shooting of a Malaysian man last night at a residence in Sungai Golok town, Narathiwat, located in southern Thailand.
