Kuala lumpur: The General Operations Force (GOF) of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) dismantled a syndicate distributing untaxed beer on Tuesday. Bukit Aman Department of Internal Security and Public Order (JKDNKA) director Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said that in the raid at 4.30 pm, two men aged 42 and 62 were arrested, while the total seizure was estimated to be worth more than RM1 million. He said the investigation also found that the syndicate used a storage premises as a place to store the undeclared beer.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the modus operandi of this syndicate is to use garbage trucks as the main transportation to distribute and deliver the alcoholic beverages to customers. "The raid conducted was the first time the authorities had detected the use of such a modus operandi, thus revealing a new tactic used to conceal this criminal activity," Mohd Yusri said in a statement today.

Mohd Yusri mentioned that in the raid, his team seized a one-tonne white Isuzu truck, a silver Toyota Altis car, 33,264 cans of various types of alcoholic beverages, and three mobile phones. The case is being investigated under Section 135(1)(d) of the Customs Act 1967.

Meanwhile, he noted that from January to June this year, the GOF seized RM14,521,250.18 worth of undeclared liquor involving 82 cases, while 87 individuals were arrested for various offences nationwide. He also urged the public to continue providing information to the police to assist in efforts to combat the criminal activities.
