Kuala lumpur: The Global Governance Initiative proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping provides a multilateral system in which countries big and small are treated as equals and with respect, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, in an interview with CGTN anchor Zheng Junfeng, Anwar highlighted the human element and correct values embodied in the initiative. He emphasized that few global leaders discuss themes of civilization, respect, and shared prosperity. The interview took place on the sidelines of his recent working visit to China.

Anwar further pointed out the significance of various regional and international initiatives, including the ASEAN initiative, the Chinese initiative, BRICS, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO). He suggested that these initiatives have the potential to address and resolve contentious global issues, not only in politics but also in safeguarding economic interests.

During his four-day visit to China, Anwar participated in the SCO Plus Summit in Tianjin, where he delivered remarks emphasizing the need to strengthen and restore trust in the multilateralism system.
