Johor: German company Mosca GmbH has inaugurated its new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Ulu Tiram, Johor, representing the company’s third expansion in Malaysia since 2009. Mosca is primarily involved in the production of efficient strapping machines, high-quality strapping, and complex systems for securing transported goods. The complex in Johor operates as Maschinenfabrik Gerd Mosca Sdn Bhd (MGM).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mosca group chief executive officer Timo Mosca stated that Malaysia has been a strategic milestone in the family-owned company’s journey toward internationalisation. ‘With today’s (June 10) inauguration of our new production facility, we are building on that legacy – and sending a strong signal for sustainable growth, collaborative partnerships, and entrepreneurial foresight across borders,’ he said in a joint statement released by the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and Mosca.

The company has prioritised hiring Malaysian talent at all levels and is continuously upskilling its employees by regularly sending them to its headquarters in Germany for advanced training. Special focus is given to individuals with limited access to education in Johor, offering them meaningful career opportunities. ‘We equip them with the same tools, opportunities, and trust as we do anywhere in the world. We are not merely a foreign investor — we are an integral part of the Johor community,’ Timo Mosca added.

Meanwhile, MIDA chief executive officer Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid highlighted that Mosca’s new facility showcases the perfect alignment between German engineering excellence and Malaysian industrial ambition. ‘Their commitment to sustainable manufacturing practices and workforce development directly supports our MADANI Economy vision. This expansion reinforces Malaysia’s position as a preferred investment destination for advanced manufacturing, while creating valuable opportunities for our local talent and supply chain partners,’ he said.
