Putra Heights: The decision on temporary housing for residents affected by the recent gas pipeline fire in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya, is expected to be finalised by Monday, as announced by Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari. Discussions with Petronas and the Implementation Coordination Unit will guide the decision-making process.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Amirudin highlighted that temporary relief centres could initially accommodate victims for the first two weeks. He mentioned the possibility of relocating victims to alternative accommodations, with options such as Airbnb offering homes for those whose houses were completely destroyed, allowing them to stay for a few months.
The State Disaster Management Committee reported that 87 houses were deemed uninhabitable following the fire incident on Tuesday. Amirudin also noted that the state government received a vehicle donation offer from a used car dealership, Carsome, which will be managed by the office of State Investment, Trade and Mobility Committee chairman Ng Sze Han.
Furthermore, the state government plans to activate the Tabung Prihatin Negeri for public donations and mobilise the Selangor Volunteer (SERVE) unit. Amirudin added that KDEB Waste Management has been instructed to conduct cleanup operations in the affected areas.
