Selangor: The Selangor government has activated a relief centre at Putra Heights Mosque to accommodate residents affected by a fire caused by a burst gas pipeline in Jalan Putra Harmoni, Putra Heights today. Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the fire department is currently working to control the blaze and has ordered the evacuation of residents in the surrounding area.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the District Disaster Management Unit has set up the relief centre to temporarily house those affected by the incident. The centre will remain operational until the situation is under control, as stated by Amirudin Shari in a post on X.
Selangor Disaster Management Committee chairman Mohd Najwan Halimi also addressed the situation in a statement, noting that several houses in Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru have been impacted by the fire. However, the exact number of affected houses is yet to be determined. Rescue efforts are underway to assist victims trapped inside their homes.
Mohd Najwan further mentioned that individuals who have been rescued are being taken to the relief centre, with several burn victims awaiting ambulances for medical treatment. In the meantime, the mosque is providing assistance to those in need.
