Gabriel Bortoleto Anticipates Wet Weather at Bahrain GP in Malaysia

Kuala Lampur:The Audi Revolut F1 Team driver, Gabriel Bortoleto, is looking forward to potential rain during the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia from October 2 to 4, 2026.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Bortoleto, 21, who will be racing at Sepang for the first time, expressed that the cooler temperatures brought on by wet weather could make for a more comfortable racing experience. He noted the importance of consistent weather conditions, hoping to avoid chaotic situations caused by fluctuating weather.

Sudden tropical downpours are a known feature of the Sepang International Circuit, often requiring teams to adjust their strategies. The circuit was the site of a memorable 2009 race that was red-flagged due to monsoon rains. MetMalaysia has forecast rain for Sunday's race, adding to the anticipation of a challenging event.

Bortoleto shared his excitement about driving on the 5.543-kilometre circuit, having only experienced it virtually through a simulator until now. Currently 14th in the drivers' standings with 10 points, he has received a warm welcome in Malaysia and praised the country's hospitality.

Recently, Bortoleto was seen on Langkawi Island with other F1 drivers, including Lando Norris, George Russell, and Carlos Sainz. During his stay, he enjoyed local attractions, such as visiting a waterfall and go-karting.

In July, Formula 1 confirmed that Malaysia would host the Bahrain GP, following an agreement with the FIA and the governments of Malaysia and Bahrain. This decision keeps the Bahrain GP on the 2026 F1 calendar after an earlier cancellation due to geopolitical issues in West Asia. Malaysia previously hosted the Malaysian GP at Sepang from 1999 to 2017.
