Kuala lumpur: The Fun Walk HAWANA 2026, held today in conjunction with this year's National Journalists' Day (HAWANA) celebration, kicked off with a warm-up aerobics session at about 7.30 am.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the 2.6-kilometre walk at Titiwangsa Lake Gardens here attracted nearly 2,000 participants and was flagged off by Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Abdul Halim Hamzah at 7.45 am. Present at the event were Communications Ministry deputy secretary-general (Strategic Communications and Creative Industry) Datuk Bahria Mohd Tamil; Bernama chief executive officer and HAWANA 2026 working committee chair Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin; Bernama editor-in-chief and HAWANA 2026 working committee deputy chair Arul Rajoo Durar Raj; and Bernama deputy editor-in-chief (News Service) and HAWANA 2026 project director Mohd Shukri Ishak, alongside Bernama's top management.
In addition to the walk, a variety of family-friendly activities were organised. Participants engaged in traditional games such as batu seremban, congkak, kercang, and dam haji. There were also a colouring contest and quiz sessions.
The Bernama-organised programme offered 500 lucky draw prizes worth a total of up to RM50,000. Among these were 10 grand prizes, including electric motorcycles valued at RM3,000 each, bicycles, and household electrical appliances.
The Fun Walk HAWANA 2026 was supported by 14 strategic partners from the corporate and institutional sectors. These partners included the University Malaya Medical Centre, Basic Tees, BigBigPlace, Maxim E-Hailing, Cap Kunci, Milo, Extra Joss, Munchy's Oat Krunch, the Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA), MOMAwater, Yakult, ZUS Coffee, Selangor Fruit Valley, and Sunshine Bakeries.
The programme aims to continue serving as a platform that brings together the media community and the public through activities that promote a healthy lifestyle and foster a spirit of togetherness, aligning with the aspirations of HAWANA 2026.
The highlight of the HAWANA 2026 celebration will take place in Penang on June 20 and is scheduled to be officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
