Butterworth: Media practitioners covering the National Journalists' Day (HAWANA) 2026 Summit at the PICCA Arena Butterworth Convention Centre praised the comprehensive and conducive media facilities, adding that it was instrumental in facilitating smooth news coverage.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Air Times News Network journalist Zaki Salleh, 38, said the open-concept MediaWork workspace was highly practical and user-friendly for media personnel. He noted that the workspace was excellent and comfortable, equipped with sufficient power outlets and an open-space concept that allowed easier movement for media practitioners, compared to the closed-room concept used at some other events. Salleh also mentioned that PICCA offers significant advantages for organisers of large-scale events due to its accessible location outside the island area, which helps avoid traffic congestion.
Meanwhile, Radio Televisyen Malaysia cameraman Mohd Fairuz Azmi, 38, highlighted the systematic layout of the media centre, which included a separate registration area from the media workspace, thereby reducing congestion and providing greater mobility for personnel. He expressed satisfaction, stating that everything was in good condition for media personnel to carry out their work, and emphasized the availability of ample parking for visitors.
RTM journalist Hidayah Anuar, 47, described the MediaWork facilities as meeting the requirements of large-scale event coverage, including the needs of international media representatives. She emphasized the spacious environment and technical facilities provided, which help ensure smooth coverage operations.
Kosmo! journalist Luqman Ridhwan Mohd Nor, 38, commended the logistical arrangements, including parking facilities and easy access to the venue. He expressed hope that the high-speed internet facilities available at the event would become a standard feature at future large-scale events. Several other media practitioners suggested that more multimedia-friendly facilities, such as soundproof rooms for voice-over recordings and live broadcasts, be considered for future editions.
A total of 28 media organisations, including TV3, Radio Televisyen Malaysia, Sinar Harian, and New Straits Times, were involved in covering the HAWANA 2026 Summit.
