FRU Truck Crash: Lorry Driver Rearrested Over Missing Cattle Case

Bagan Datuk: The lorry driver initially charged with dangerous driving, which resulted in the death of nine Federal Reserve Unit personnel, was rearrested today following his release on bail, this time in connection with a cattle theft case.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the driver was released after his employer posted the RM6,000 bail set by the court. However, the 45-year-old man was taken back into custody at 12:20 pm in the Teluk Intan Court compound, as confirmed by Bagan Datuk police chief Supt Mohammad Ali Mohd Jali.

Supt Mohammad Ali Mohd Jali stated that the arrest was made following a report lodged on April 14, 2025, by a local man concerning the disappearance of two cows in Kampung Sungai Keli Hutan Melintang. The suspect is currently being held at the Bagan Datuk District Police Headquarters lock-up for further investigation, which is standard procedure after receiving such a report.

The suspect is set to appear before the Teluk Intan Magistrate’s Court tomorrow where a remand order will be sought. The case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code, which carries a potential penalty of up to seven years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both.
