Kuala Lumpur: The crash, which claimed the lives of nine Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) members on Jalan Chikus-Sungai Lampam, early this morning, has deeply shocked the nation.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, social media was flooded with condolences for the families of the victims, including messages from Cabinet ministers, who expressed sorrow and prayed for strength for the families in the face of this tragedy.
Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming described the accident as a heartbreaking tragedy and extended his condolences to the families. ‘Their passing is a great loss to the security forces and the nation. Their service and sacrifice will always be remembered,’ he said in a Facebook post. Nga, also the Member of Parliament for Teluk Intan, instructed his political secretary, Steven Chaw, to visit the affected families and explore ways to provide immediate assistance.
Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad called the passing of the security personnel a great loss, acknowledging their duty to ensure peace and well-being. He extended condolences to the families and prayed for their strength and resilience.
Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu described the incident as a tragedy involving national heroes, stating, ‘The sacrifices of these FRU members will always be remembered as a symbol of invaluable courage and fighting spirit,’ in a Facebook post. Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail prayed for forgiveness and mercy for the souls of the deceased, acknowledging their services to the country.
Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek also prayed for the souls of the victims and for the families to be granted strength. The accident, occurring at 8.50 am, involved a truck carrying 15 FRU members from Unit 5 Ipoh, returning after an assignment in Teluk Intan, when it collided with a lorry carrying gravel stones.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar conveyed his condolences, expressing gratitude for the services of the FRU members and praying for the families’ fortitude. Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud also shared condolences and called for a thorough investigation to prevent future tragedies.
