Putrajaya:Ronan Auge, a French cyclist, has awakened from a medically induced coma and is showing promising signs of recovery following a serious crash during the Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) 2026.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Joram Grootveld, sports director of Unibet Rose Rockets, confirmed that the 22-year-old rider is making steady progress and has reunited with his family, who traveled from France to be with him. Auge woke up after the coma, and the initial signs of recovery look promising, although he faces a long recovery period.
Grootveld expressed gratitude for the medical team's efforts, noting that regular updates have been comforting. Auge's condition needs to stabilize fully before considering a transfer back to France due to his significant fractures.
Auge had been placed in a coma to stabilize his condition after a crash during Stage Six of the race. He was taken to the hospital immediately after the incident, with the team doctor providing continuous updates.
Grootveld praised the race's organization and expressed satisfaction with the team's performance, highlighting their almost daily top-10 finishes. The 30th edition of LTdL concludes today with the final stage from Muar to Putrajaya.
