Free Tree Saplings Among Key Attractions At Kedah PMR

Baling: Known for its strong agricultural roots, residents of this district are expected to seize the opportunity to receive free tree saplings during the Kedah edition of the MADANI Rakyat Programme (PMR), held at the Baling District Council Sports Complex from tomorrow (Thursday) to Saturday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kedah PMR coordinator Zammidi Mohd Asri announced that a variety of tree saplings – including starfruit, mesta, coconut, mangosteen, durian, and assorted vegetables – will be specially distributed to visitors attending this programme.

Held under the theme ‘Rakyat Prihatin, Negara Aman, Masa Depan Terjamin’, this edition focuses on tailored content that addresses the specific needs of the local community. ‘The PMR this time is being held in the interior, far from the state capital. We have curated programme content that resonates with the people of Baling, especially around plantations and commodities that are central to their livelihoods,’ he told Bernama today.

Among the key highlights is the Immigration Department booth, which will offer on-site Border Pass application services and online passport renewal assistance. There will be a wide array of offerings at this edition of the PMR, including booths from federal and state government agencies, Rahmah MADANI Sales, Agro MADANI Sales, and health services.

‘We are also organising a motorcycle engine oil change programme for attendees, along with free haircuts courtesy of the People’s Volunteer Corps (RELA),’ he added. ‘In conjunction with the Maulidur Rasul celebration, we are organising a selawat session on the opening evening of the programme (Thursday), followed by a wayang pacak screening of Sheriff: Narko Integriti on Friday night.

He added that, weather permitting, visitors will also be treated to a parachute jump performance, offering a thrilling spectacle to complement the community-focused festivities. This edition is spearheaded by the Home Ministry (KDN), in collaboration with the Performance Acceleration Coordination Unit (PACU) and the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) of the Prime Minister’s Department.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to officiate the programme on Saturday, which will also feature a special demonstration by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).
