Johor bahru: The Johor government will provide a free bus service to facilitate the movement of tourists in Johor Bahru city in conjunction with Visit Johor Year 2026 (VJY2026). Chief Minister Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said this initiative could facilitate movement and provide comfort to tourists.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the initiative aims to ensure that tourists’ journeys run smoothly despite ongoing construction works in the city. Chief Minister Onn Hafiz emphasized that the construction work is part of the city’s development efforts and assured that it would not hinder tourist activities. Free buses will be available near urban areas to aid in the smooth movement of visitors.
The Chief Minister addressed concerns about construction projects, including the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS Link), potentially affecting tourist arrivals. He stated that various projects to upgrade roads and tourism infrastructure are underway to prepare for VJY2026. Furthermore, the use of technology, such as the quick response (QR) code system at immigration counters, is expected to streamline the movement of tourists across border gates.
In related developments, two tigers, Cuping and Jucy, born at the Johor Zoo, have been selected as the official mascots of VJY2026. The slogan “Meh Lah Johor!” was also unveiled, symbolizing the open and welcoming nature of the Johor people, inviting tourists to experience the state’s beauty and uniqueness.
