Four Men Arrested For Cable Theft In Taiping

Taiping: Police have arrested four men suspected of being involved in cable theft at Jalan Kamunting-Batu Kurau, near Taiping Vocational College, early today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Taiping Police chief ACP Mohamad Nasir Ismail stated that the arrests were made at about 1.50 am after a team from the Kamunting police station received a tip-off from a teenager. The teenager reportedly observed several individuals engaging in suspicious activity by the roadside, specifically removing a cable manhole cover.

Acting on this information, a crime prevention patrol team was swiftly dispatched to the location. The team successfully detained four men, aged between 38 and 41, while they were in the act of removing the cable manhole cover using specialised tools. Among the items seized during the arrest were two machetes, two screwdrivers, and a Perodua Myvi car.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 379/511 of the Penal Code. All suspects have been remanded for three days, until November 17, to assist in the ongoing investigation.
